One of the outstanding wine estates surrounding the town of Châteauneuf-du-Pape where Caves de Papes has a winery. Clos de L'Oratoire des Papes Les Choregies is produced from several plots of especially old vines, which are carefully nurtured according to the ancient viticultural practices of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The soils are terraces of smooth siliceous rocks on sandy red clay. The vineyards are planted 70% to Grenache, 20% to Syrah and 5% to Mourvèdre.
Tasting Notes: Brilliant dark purple color at the edge and cherry/garnet colors suggest the wine's fine freshness. On the nose, the wine is generous both with fruity notes (cherry, red fruits) and suggestions of aging in a very fine wood (pepper, vanilla, licorice). This complex of aromatics assures a developed character in tasting. In the mouth, the first impression is marked by an excellent balance, which is characteristic of this cuvee.
